Delivered to Lufthansa as D-ALAK and flown to Hamburg, Germany and entered service on 15 April 1955.

Sold to Seaboard & Western (with an option to re-purchase after six months) 17 May 1958. Leased to Aerlinte Eireann, Irish Airlines as a 95-seater all economy class aircraft, registered N611C named 'Breandan/St. Brendan. Flew first service Dublin - New York 4 June 1958. Returned to S&W 17 November 1958 and sold back to Lufthansa. Re-registered D-ALAK again 24 November 1958.
